No Gi (pronounced no ghee) Jiu Jitsu derives from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or BJJ. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was brought to Brazil in the early 20th century from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan Judo, which was called Jiu Jitsu before a name change to Judo. No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (or No Gi BJJ) is a combat sport, martial art, and efficient, effective self-defense system that focuses on ground fighting.
